Welcome to Lac du Salagou! Just 100 meters from our lakeside campsite in the Hérault region, it awaits you for exceptional moments of relaxation. Located near Clermont-l’Hérault, Celles, Octon and Liausson, this unique spot is a veritable inland sea. You’ll be dazzled by the ochre hills, born of the famous“ruffe“, a clay of volcanic origin! Swimming in the Lac du Salagou is an enchanted interlude that attracts families and nature lovers alike. It’s the perfect escape for a total change of scenery, far from the hustle and bustle, and right next to the Mediterranean garrigue!

Why swim in this lake?

Do you dream of bathing in waters surrounded by landscapes that seem to have come straight from a distant planet? Slip into soft water. Its quality is rigorously and regularly monitored, making it a safe and healthy playground. There’s no hustle and bustle here! Even boats with internal combustion engines are strictly forbidden.

Lac du Salagou invites you to enjoy a mineral and sensory experience. The question is not whether you should swim in this spot, but where to experience the most magical moment.

Where to swim in Lac du Salagou?

The beach at Liausson, very close to our campsite, is the ideal option for a relaxing swim, especially with the whole family. Stretch out your towel on the ochre earth, and let the volcanic landscape envelop you.

But if you feel like being an explorer, take to the trails around the lake. On the Vailhès peninsula, where the nautical base is located, you can rent a paddle or canoe before heading off to the more discreet creeks between Vailhès and Octon.

Tips for safe swimming

When swimming in Lac du Salagou, take a few precautions:

  • Only swim in supervised areas, such as the one near our establishment or in the Baie des Vailhès.
  • Look out for the information signs: they indicate water quality and any areas temporarily closed to swimming.
  • Bring water shoes: the bottom may be slightly muddy or slippery in places.
  • Respect this exceptional environment: pick up your litter and stay on the marked trails.
  • If you’re bringing your dog, be aware that the main beach is often off-limits to pets in summer. But don’t worry: you’ll find quieter areas where dogs are allowed, provided they’re kept on a leash.

Other activities to extend your enjoyment of the lake
